   I purchased the LG 42LD450 at a chain store but want to caution Amazon customers. I was impressed with the specifications for the price and have had the set for almost two weeks. I tried everything I could think of to get some enjoyment out of it but am just plain disappointed.

   As another reviewer points out, you need to be directly in front of this set to appreciate the vibrant color and crisp picture. Get as little as 30 degrees off axis up, down, or sideways and you’ll find yourself reaching for the remote to tweak the color. Graduated blacks such as shadows turn a ghastly mossy green. I am also unhappy with the fact that the backlight is very uneven, falling off dramatically at the edges. The dynamic color and contrast controls are not subtle in the least. They are slow to respond to changes in lighting conditions and adjustments are very noticeable. For the most part, solid blocks of color like those in cartoons look fantastic, but depictions of reality leave a bit to be desired.

   I believe the unit I purchased is defective as one side of the picture is slightly washed out and blurry with some vertical non-linearity. It’s getting progressively worse.

   The sound is disappointing with almost no low end. The automatic gain that is supposed to adjust levels between programs and commercials is so annoyingly bad at the task that I just turned it off.

   Score points for easy set up and the ability to plug in a USB flash drive full of music or photos.

   I recently bought this TV from J&R and had an horrible experience.

   On the first day everything was fine: the TV was working and the image quality is indeed really nice. However, one week after I installed it, the TV just went blank. I’ve contacted LG’s support center and they told me that I couldn’t get a replacement TV – although my purchase was just a week old – and I had to wait for a technician, which would come to my house only in the following week.

   I’ve searched the web for my problem, and it seemed to me that it was a problem with the power supply board of the TV (and it seems like a common problem, as I found it pretty quickly in a lot of messaging boards). Today, the technician arrived and came to the same conclusion: a faulty power supply. However, they don’t have a spare part, and I should wait until they order one from LG’s and schedule another technician visit, which should take another 1-2 weeks. The end result: in my first month with the TV, I’ll probably had been able to use for just a couple of days.

   The image quality is really good, so as the price was. However, please be aware of this kind of problems before you buy one of these !

   Bought this TV for my son who is going to college and living in our 2nd home. I got this TV from Amozon at a great price with free shipping.The TV has a great picture right out of the box with no adjustments.

   I ordered the LG HD flat screen and am completely satisfied. The television arrived within days of my purchase, in brand new condition. The delivery service used, was excellent. The delivery guy, showed me all of the paperwork and offered to bring the television in the house and complete basic set-up, to ensure the unit’s condition. He was very professional and friendly. I would definitely use this seller in the future.

   This is a great value and a great TV. I am very pleased with the picture, sound, controls…pretty much everything about it. I highly suggest this TV if you are looking for an HD LCD 42″ unit.
